In the midst of trials, we often reminisce on the “good ol’ days” and wish we were there again. But dwelling on the past keeps us from embracing the future. Abraham followed God’s leading by putting the past behind him . . . and that’s a good lesson for us today.
Change is difficult. It usually involves leaving our comfort zone and moving into uncharted territory. At times God calls us to leave our secure environment so that we learn to place our security in Him.
Take a moment to think about your closest friend. How did you meet? What mutual interests drew you together? A look at our interactions with family and friends can act as a springboard to defining our relationship with God.
Jeremiah 29:11 states “ ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘. . . plans to give you a hope and a future.’ ” This is not an idle promise.
When we become a part of God’s family, we have a new allegiance . . . a new outlook on life. How do we deal with the dilemma that although we are made new in Christ, we are still human and make mistakes?
When you hear the word courage, what comes to mind? The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines courage as “mental or moral strength to persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty.” Sometimes the call to faith is one that takes tenacity.
Following Christ is an adventure! When your journey with Christ begins, you don’t always know where He will take you. God often reveals His plan only one step at a time.
Some call it a crisis of faith. Others call it a crossroads. But at some point in our lives each of us will choose whether to follow God or take another path.
There are times when we’re walking down the road and can’t see what’s beyond the horizon. We can’t see the outcome God has in store for us. We don’t always get a preview of the grand finale God has prepared for our lives.
Sometimes the things God calls us to do don’t resonate with us. We feel we should go one way and at the same time we know God is asking us to go in a different direction.
What happens when the beliefs we’ve professed don’t seem to make sense once we’re knee deep in life? Let's examine the tough decisions we have to make when God calls us to move forward in faith.
Is God trustworthy? He asks us to give our lives over to Him . . . and if we’ve found Him to be dependable in the past, surrendering to Him should be easy, right?
