Series The Father's Heart

Between the “prodigal” son and his resentful older brother, we find in Luke 15 much to challenge us. We also find legitimate reasons to examine our own hearts and the motives that drive us. But, what if there is a bigger story in the parable of the prodigal? And what of that bigger story is also a better story—the story of the heart of a Father who loves us in spite of ourselves? This week, the DTW team explores this famous parable, and finds in it a portrait of the heart of our heavenly Father and the depth of His love for us.

A wasted inheritance

“It’s not fair!” It’s not just whiny little kids who say that, because we all want justice. Today on Discover the Word, we will continue to discuss the parable of the prodigal son. A Father’s heart

Luke 15 and Jesus’s parable about the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son—they all make the point that our heavenly Father’s heart is a heart that “seeks and saves” the lost. And whether we think we’re the best of the best or the worst of the worst, we have a pursuing Father who comes after us, saying, “Let Me take you home.” Listen today on Discover the Word!
