Probably every Christian has at some point experienced the difficulty of trying to be more "holy." We become convinced that some habit or action is not pleasing to God, so we pray about it, cry about it, promise never to do it again. But then temptation arises and we find ourselves giving in to a sin we thought we’d put behind us. On the other hand, we all know some people who would never call themselves Christian, and yet seem better at living “the Christian life” than followers of Christ. Join the Discover the Word group of Haddon Robinson, Alice Mathews, and Mart DeHaan as they turn to Galatians 5 and 6 to explore what it means to live a holy life controlled by the spirit of God.
I. Can you think of a time when the Holy Spirit accomplished in you a good work and you were surprised by it?
II. Have there been times when looking back you realized the Holy Spirit may have been speaking to you, but you didn’t recognize it at the time?
III. Are there particular areas where you struggle with the desire to do good and the impulse to sin? Why are these areas so difficult?
IV. Besides the Scriptures are there other factors the Holy Spirit uses to develop you and help you grow?
